Easter Sunday 20 April 2014 saw Leeds Penguins, the ladies side of Leeds Lacrosse, travel to Stockport for the annual Easter 8s competition. It is always a fun and relaxed event and an end of season festival of lacrosse in the sunshine. Well the sunshine may have deserted us but we had a lot of fun playing lacrosse.
Many of the teams embraced the fancy dress options and the Liverpool tea were a sight to be seen in their onesies. There was also a random assortment of playing cards, Wally’s and Minion’s although I’m sad to say that Leeds were not one of the teams who embraced the optional fancy dress.
We played 6 games in all and had close matches against Wilmslow, Mellor and Heaton Mersey. There was victory in the final game against Liverpool. Eventual winners were Oxton but they were run close by a spirited Timperley performance.
